Inspiration, Insights, and Journeys
It is all worth the wait
Yesterday June 4th was a big day for me! It was the day I had to take the first half of my finals and make it in time for the Grand Fair & Job Fair at the Kingsborough Community College.
I didn’t know what to expect
I couldn’t have thought out this day enough in my mind. With each sunrise, my eagerness to don my cap and gown intensified. The mere thought of it thrilled me to the core. Every day, I remind myself that I am destined for greatness.
My wondering mind
As I entered the lot, a surge of excitement coursed through me, and I found myself wishing for someone, another fellow graduate to share that moment with. I grabbed my bag, slipped into my walking shoes, and head on down the path towards the next door of my future.
That line was long. It doesn’t matter how often you prepare yourself, once you arrived nothing beats that “what the heck” feeling when you lay eyes on a line as long as this one was. In my option, the organizers did an outstanding job managing the queue, but I do wish there had been more time available to collect gowns and decorate the Caps. Nevertheless, the overall experience at Kingsborough was pleasant.

Nearing the front of the Line
Nearly an hour had passed as I inched forward, eagerly anticipating my turn to receive my gown. My pulse quickened with excitement. The job fair was bustling with opportunities, featuring positions from the NYPD, Bank of America’s business technology sector, Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), the FBI, Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, NYC Health & Hospitals, FDNY’s Office of Recruitment and Retention, NYC Department of Corrections, and the NYA Department of Civil Services, to name just a few. Yet, I found myself longing for recruitment options tailored for those of us with a passion for English Liberal Arts. The atmosphere was as pleasant as ever, and the anticipation for my upcoming commencement ceremony only added to the joy of the day.
